Being under God's wings is being tucked under his safety. Just like a mother spreads her wings of concern over her young so does God spread his wings of protection over us. In Psalms17: 8 David uses the phrase to signify being hidden in God. Likewise for Christians we are hidden in Christ Jesus where afflictions do not affect us.
